Vertical hold down clamps push the clamping arm or the attached spindle assembly against the workpieces by using a straight handle that is positioned perpendicular to the base (when in locked position). These manual clamps are ideal for applications requiring repeated clamping / detaching of the workpieces throughout the operations. Destaco 528 Series vertical hold down clamps are used to hold workpieces against flat surfaces for checking fixtures, light machining, assembly & welding operations. They feature a modifiable, solid clamping bar to accommodate diverse application requirements. Destaco 528-F hold down clamp is equipped with a front mount flange base for installation on vertical surfaces at the front side of the clamp. This clamp has steel construction with hardened steel bushings and pivot points for heavy-duty operation and minimising damage / wear due to abrasive conditions. Raptor Supplies also offers these 528 Series clamps in a variant with flange base for installation of the clamp on horizontal surfaces.

Raptor Supplies offers similar manual clamp variants having a flange base (528) for installation on horizontal surface of the clamp.
Vertical hold down clamps are manually operated using vertical handles / levers to move the clamping arms or the attached spindles against the workpieces and prevent them from moving mid-operation for secure clamping.
The difference between vertical & horizontal toggle clamps can be easily noticed by the locking positioning of their clamp handles. Vertical clamp handles are vertically or perpendicularly positioned to the base in locked position, whereas the horizontal toggle clamps are positioned horizontally or parallel to the base.
The term "holding capacity" or the holding force indicates the capability of the clamp to hold down the equipment, workpiece or sheet metal on the assembly line or during other manufacturing processes.
Clamping force or exerting force denotes the actual force exerted by the clamp onto the workpieces for holding them. The measure of holding force or capacity indicates the ideal strength of the clamp measured during the clamp manufacturing process. The clamping force is generally lesser than the holding capacity, due to several factors like the position of spindles in the clamping bars and the opposing force applied on the clamp.
The red coloured handles alert the user about the location of the operating handle and where he should grab it.
Yes, all of the Destaco carbon steel clamps are zinc plated to resist & reduce wear & tear due to harsh industrial environments. Destaco also offers stainless steel clamps for applications requiring clamping in outdoor conditions.
Destaco clamps are not designed for hoisting or lifting applications and can only handle clamping requirements up to a certain maximum weight on their clamping arms.
Destaco can supply customised versions of clamps upon request. The customisations can range from a different colour of handles to the removal of the Destaco logo from the clamps.
