Description

Nut assortments are designed for easy fastening of equipment and machinery. They are compatible with screws & bolts for securing workpieces and eliminating loosening due to torque & vibrations. The nut assortment catalogue includes hex nuts, locknuts, nuts & washer assortments and nut assemblies. Raptor Supplies offers these nut assortments from brands like Grainger, Lisle, Vulcan Hart, Midwest Acorn Nut, Itw Bee Leitzke and Titan Fasteners.

Features

  • They come in a plastic container (box / case) for easy organisational storage and transport.
  • These nut assortments include hex nuts, washers, locknuts, acorn nuts, jam nuts, hex locknuts with nylon inserts, wing nuts and nut assemblies.
  • The locknuts resist loosening under torque and vibration.
  • They are equipped with locking nuts ensuring an easy secure hold or removal.
  • These locknut assortments feature steel / stainless steel construction with zinc / chrome / plain finish for resistance against wear and corrosion.
  • Grainger CPS1LAC1GR nut assortment features steel construction for structural rigidity and has Metric threads. It comes with acorn nuts that provide a protective cover to internal threads / bolt ends from contaminants and wing nuts (also known as thumb nuts). They allow a secure grip for manual tightening and loosening. These units also include jam nuts (or half-nuts) for tightening or jamming against the primary nut.
  • These nuts with washers are used with a screw fastener (such as a bolt & nut) to prevent the screw from loosening or to distribute the weight from the nut / bolt head over a large area.
  • They are available in imperial & metric variants and packs containing up to 1255 pieces.

Buying Guide

Based on Material

Steel

Nuts made from various grades of steel provide impeccable strength & durability. They tighten when turned to the left to prevent loosening from counterclockwise motion.

Aluminium

These nuts are lighter than steel nuts (one-third the weight). They resist corrosion in wet environments and are non-magnetic in nature.

Low Carbon Steel

These rust-resistant nuts can withstand high temperatures and stay sharp for a long period of time.

High Carbon Steel

They have 0.6 to 0.99% carbon content, making them exceptionally strong, durable and sustainable.

18-8 Stainless Steel

They ensure chemical resistance in harsh environments and can be mildly magnetic. SS nuts offer moderate structural rigidity.

Based on Finish / Coating

Zinc

Mild-to-high corrosion resistance in wet environments; strengthens the product.

Zinc Yellow-Chromate Plating

For corrosion resistance and yellow-coloured finish.

Chrome

Increased surface hardness, abrasion resistance & easy cleaning.

Cadmium Plating

Provides high resistance to saltwater corrosion and retains electrical conductivity.

Based On Nut Type

Lock Nut

These nuts have a collar design to secure bearings onto a shaft and prevent loosening of components due to rotation & vibration.

Hex Nut

They prevent metric bolt threads from loosening due to temperature swings, vibration or wear. These units are stronger than medium-strength steel lock nuts.

Based On Hex Nut Profile

Extra Wide Hex Nuts

They are about 10% taller and wider than standard hex nuts. These heavy hex nuts distribute loads over a large area and are stronger than high-strength steel nuts.

High Hex Nuts

They are about 50% taller than standard hex nuts. These nuts offer maximum gripping area for installation using a wrench.

Standard Hex Nuts

They feature internal threads and are ideal for fastening equipment & machinery.

Thin Hex Nuts

They are about half the height of standard hex nuts and can fit in low-height clearances. These nuts jam against each other to hold them in place or are threaded together to form a lock nut.

Narrow Hex Nuts

These small-pattern hex nuts are about 20% narrower than standard hex nuts. They are ideal for tight spaces where standard hex nuts cannot fit.

Extra-Wide Thin Hex Nuts

They are also known as heavy jam nuts. They are about half the height & 10% wider than standard hex nuts. They jam against each other to fasten bolts and hold them in place in heavy machinery & earth-moving equipment.

Based on Thread Types

Metric

They are measured in millimetres and are specified by their pitch & diameter. These threads can only mate with other metric threads and their thread spacing can be ultra-fine, extra-fine, fine or coarse.

UNC

These Unified National Coarse threads have coarse spacing to allow tightening with few turns. They mate with UNC & UNRC threads and are thick, deep & less likely to jam or strip even if dirty / rusty / nicked.

UNF

These Unified National Fine threads have fine spacing and are less prone to loosening when vibrating. They cover a short distance with each turn and mate with UNRF & UNF threads.

Based On Locking Type

Nylon Insert

They prevent metric bolt threads from loosening due to temperature swings, vibration and wear. These units are stronger than medium-strength steel locknuts.

Serrated

They have serrations to hold the surface rather than the threads for mild vibration resistance & ease of installation. These nuts are also available in a flanged design.

Steel Insert

The steel insert isolates itself from the nut's load after installation, grabbing the threads and lifting away from the nut body to prevent spinoff due to vibrations. These fasteners are frequently used in shakers and vibrating machinery.

Lock Washer

They are also known as K-lock nuts or Keps. These units come with a free-spinning tooth lock washer that grabs the surface rather than the threads for mild vibration resistance & ease of installation. They are also available in spring lock types.

Distorted Thread

These nuts have irregularly shaped threads at the top of the nut to hold the bolt tightly. They are available in centre lock and top lock types.

Flex Top Expanding

The threads on the top of these lock nuts expand to clutch the bolt on all sides for a stronger grip than distorted lock nuts.

Based On Thread Spacing

Coarse

They are the widest spaced threads. They start easily and need only a few turns to tighten. These thick & deep units are less prone to jamming or stripping, even if rusty / dirty / nicked.

Fine

They are spaced closer together than coarse threads, making them less prone to loosening during vibration. They cover a short distance with each turn for precise adjustments.

Based on Standards

SAE

They are used for Imperial fasteners. The higher the grade, the stronger the fastener. Fasteners with the same grade are designed to be used together in light to heavy fastening / stress applications.

ISO

Metric fasteners have classifications according to ISO standards. The higher the class, the stronger the fastener. Fasteners with the same first digit are used together in light duty fastening or high-stress applications.

ASTM

ASTM grades are based on strength. They are ideal for high strength, stress, pressure & temperature applications.

Based On Fastener Class / Grade

SAE Grade 5

They are used to fasten general machinery & equipment, and have a minimum tensile strength of 105000 psi.

SAE Grade 8

They are used for pumps, valves, motors & other high-stress applications. These fasteners have a minimum tensile strength of 150000 psi.

ISO Class 6

These metric low-strength steel nuts are ideal for light-duty fastening applications.

ISO Class 8

They are used to fasten machinery & equipment, and feature a minimum tensile strength of 110000 psi.
