Lynch Pins

Lynch pins are commonly used to secure trailer couplers, hitch pins or doors. They are ideal for applications requiring quick connection / disconnection between mating parts.

Cotter pins are designed to act as a locking mechanism in nuts & bolts (with a hole) for a secure fit, even if the nut loosens.

• Cotter pins are constructed of mild steel and are suitable for locking nuts at their position. These pins are inserted into the hole of the bolt and are bent into various shapes to prevent the nut from falling out.
• Split pins are constructed of heavy-duty steel and are inserted into the hole to lock the nut.

Hitch pins connect two mating components and keep them in position on one end using a cotter pin. They feature a non-removable bend or handle to keep them from being removed from the other side. Heavy loads should not be applied to the cotter pin.

These pins are manufactured using special grades of steel that are hardened with a heat-treating process, making them ductile and extremely strong. When driven into steel with the proper power-driven tool, their ballistic-shaped point uniformly pierces the steel instead of drilling it out or tearing it like a common nail.
