Destaco Cylinder Position Sensors | Raptor Supplies Worldwide

DESTACO Cylinder Position Sensors

Destaco pneumatic clamp position sensors are designed to sense the position of the cylinder piston by activating it using a magnetic ring. They are cylinder mounted using tie rods or supplied band clamps and feature an IP67 rated design with an LED indicator.

Filter

Destaco cylinder position sensors are used to sense the position of a cylinder piston for enhancing the functionality of Destaco pneumatic swing clamps. They can detect the position of a pneumatic cylinder, count piston cycles or confirm cylinder operation in automated machinery.

Position Sensor Tie Rod Mount

Destaco position sensors are used to sense position of a cylinder piston and are available in a tie-rod mounting style with an LED display. They can work at temperatures ranging from 14 degrees Fahrenheit to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, with 500 mA of switching current. Destaco tie-rod position sensors are available in 9 ft. lead length with a magnetic ring activated sensor installed on the cylinder piston.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you have to use a sensor for a pneumatic cylinder?

We recommend using a pneumatic cylinder linear position sensor for detecting the linear position of the piston during operation. Pneumatic cylinders are typically made with a magnet already attached internally to the piston so that magnetic proximity sensors can be used. Pneumatic cylinders with position sensors allow enhanced security and feedback to ensure the piston location. These position sensors can detect extension, retraction or independent positions along the cylinder body, depending on where the unit is mounted. Multiple sensors can also be attached to one pneumatic cylinder for multiple position feedback locations.

How to choose the right position sensor?

  • Environment: You need to know whether the sensor will be in an enclosed & clean environment or if it requires high protection housing. Temperature considerations should also be taken into account.
  • Switching signal characteristics: Consider the switching power and current requirements of the control system. The selected sensor should be compatible.
  • Magnet orientation: Reed switch and hall effect sensors require correct orientation of the applied magnetic field to ensure proper operation. Therefore, the sensor must be mounted in the proper orientation to the piston.
