Carbonator Pump Motors

Carbonator or jet pump motors are best suited for continuous-duty hydraulic & centrifugal pump powering applications in manufacturing facilities, processing plants and wastewater management industries. Raptor Supplies offers a wide array of Century & Marathon jet pump motors featuring an open drip-proof / totally enclosed fan cooled enclosure for providing optimum heat dissipation rates and ball bearings for reducing the frictional losses & preventing the ingress of contaminants into the casing. Selected UL-listed, split-phase carbonator pump motors from Century come equipped with an extended hub for facilitating direct pump mounting on the motor, an auto thermal protection facility for minimising the heat generation and a cradle base design for ensuring secure installation. Choose from an extensive range of these motors available in horsepower ratings ranging from 1/4 to 3 hp, on Raptor Supplies.

Features

Marathon Carbonator Pump Motors

  • These motors are specifically designed for transferring fluid in beverage dispensing systems.
  • They feature durable steel construction for durability and sealed bearings that help to protect these motors from moisture and other contaminants.
  • These split-phase design motors can attain speeds up to 1725 rpm and can withstand a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.
  • They are available with a cradle / base mounting option for making easy motor adjustments and establishing a secure connection.

Century Pump Motor

  • This single-phase AC motor provides lower starting torque in carbonator pumps for a softer startup (where the pump must gradually come up to speed).
  • It features an open drip-proof (ODP) enclosure with ventilation openings in the end shields that protect against drops of liquid falling within 15 degrees from vertical which might affect motor performance.
  • It also includes features like auto thermal protection for heat dissipation, sleeve bearings for smooth performance and a cradle base for mounting the motor securely.
  • This motor is designed for continuous duty operation and can rotate in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions, making them ideal for a wide range of applications.

Working Mechanism

  • Carbonator pump motors work by converting electrical energy into mechanical energy that drives the pump mechanism.
  • When power is supplied to the motor, an electromagnetic field is created around the motor windings.
  • This electromagnetic field interacts with the magnetic field of the rotor, causing it to spin.
  • The spinning rotor drives the shaft, which is connected to the pump mechanism.
  • The pump mechanism consists of a series of impellers or vanes that are arranged in a way that creates a pressure differential to move the fluid being pumped.
  • As the rotor spins, it rotates the impellers or vanes, creating a suction that draws the fluid into the pump and then pushes it through the outlet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between TEFC and ODP enclosures?

  • TEFC (totally enclosed fan-cooled) enclosures have a sealed housing that prevents the ingress of foreign materials and liquids. They have a fan mounted on the motor shaft to circulate air through the interior of the motor to dissipate heat dissipated during the operation.
  • Conversely, ODP (open drip-proof) enclosures are designed to circulate air through the motor but are not sealed to protect against the ingress of foreign materials or liquids.

What is the advantage of sleeve bearings?

Sleeve bearings, also known as plain bearings, use a cylindrical sleeve to support and reduce friction between a rotating shaft and a stationary component.

What is the benefit of the auto thermal protection feature?

The auto thermal protection feature in carbonator pump motors protects from overheating and potentially causing damage to the motor or surrounding components. It includes a temperature sensor that monitors the temperature of the motor's windings. If the temperature exceeds the threshold, the protection system will activate and interrupt the power supply to the motor, thereby shutting it off until the motor cools down to a safe temperature.
