Frequently Asked Questions

How do Skolnik bolt rings work?

These rings are closure rings for holding the drum's cover onto the containers body by encompassing the top of the container and cover in a groove. The ring is then tightened using a bolt that pulls the ends of the ring together. Tools like calibrated torque wrench can be used to ensure proper closure.

How do Leverlock rings work?

These rings hold the container's cover with a latch or toggle. This toggle is pulled from one side and applies torque to the ends of the rings. No additional tools like a torque wrench are required for installing these rings.

What are open head containers?

These containers are also known as 1A2 drums. They have fully removable covers that are secured via a bolt ring closure or a leverlock.

What are closed head containers?

Unlike open head containers, these containers have a non-removable top. They are also known as 1A1 drums and can be accessed by 2 or 3/4 inch plugs.

How to put the lining on the container?

The interior lining has to be sprayed onto a container inside an interior lining booth. As the shell of the container is rotated, the interior of the container is coated with a coating sprayed from a nozzle. The container is then oven-baked for a set time and temperature to mature the lining.

What are overpack containers?

These are a type of protective packaging used to contain hazardous or non-hazardous materials, providing outer protection to other smaller containers to prevent or mitigate damage.

What are Skolnik 7A drums?

These drums are tested per 7A Type A, 1,2 & 3 regulations and are suitable for storage & shipping containers having harmful radioactive materials.

Which drums are ideal for storing acids like nitric acid?

Skolnik stainless steel nitric drums are ideal for storing acids as they offer high resistance against oxidation and nitric acids. These drums are also suitable for maintaining the purity of the material for extended periods while ensuring high compatibility with the drum's constructional material.
